In what can be described as a perfect ending of their single lives and a beautiful beginning of life as a couple, Portia Osei Bonsu and Bismark Atimbiok – the winners of the Citi FM Fabulous Wedding Give-Away – tied the knot on Saturday November 22 at the Universal Trinity Pentecostal Church in Madina.

With the support of his family and his colleagues from the Ghana Armed Forces, Bismark Atimbiok successfully took Portia Osei Bonsu as his wife at a well-attended ceremony.

Mr and Mrs Atimbiok then followed up events with an all-expense paid wedding reception, organized by 97.3 Citi FM, as part of their prize package.

“The wedding has been a dream come true. It’s the sort of wedding I’ve always wanted my wedding to be, with the lighting, décor, the cake and everything that came with it. I’m so happy and I’m grateful to Citi FM and all the sponsors for coming up with this brilliant idea to help young people who want to get married. It’s been tiring but with the support of Citi FM and the partners, it’s been a success,” an excited Mrs Portia Atimbiok explained, after the event.

On his part, Mr Atimbiok said, “it’s been wonderful. Right from the beginning we wanted a very simple but classy wedding and Citi FM made sure we got it as promised.”

The two are expected to be treated like royalty at the plush Royal Senchi Resort for an all expense paid luxury honeymoon beginning Monday November 24.

The Fabulous Wedding Give-Away

The maiden edition of the Citi FM Fabulous Wedding Give-Away was announced in September 2014. During the period of the promotion, daily relationship tips were aired on 97.3 Citi FM. Would-be couples were to note down keywords in the relationship tips, reasons why they had unique relationships and submit to Citi FM.

A shortlist of ten (10) would-be couples was arrived at from thousands of entries collected over the promotional period. Listeners then voted to trim the list down to five (5) for the grand finale.

The top five (5) then participated in a love drill which saw Bismark and Portia emerge winners after answering nine out of the ten questions right.

They therefore won the ultimate prize of a fully sponsored wedding reception and an all expenses paid honeymoon at the plush Royal Senchi Hotel, Akosombo.

Wedding Preparations

The days leading to the wedding saw the couple touring various outlets to get the best done for their wedding. They first selected their jewelry from Casabella Swarovsky Jewellery.

The couple settled on a gold and silver themed event and had Danny’s Décor in charge of the décor. The bride had a week long session at Salon Services Hair and Beauty Academy to prepare for her big day.

The Marriage Ceremonies

The traditional marriage ceremony came off on Thursday November 20 at Madina, Accra. The families of the lovebirds helped them navigate the rites and blessed the union.

Saturday, as explained by Portia was the most exciting and colorful day of her life. From her home to the church and to reception, it all rolled out as a dream to the beautiful bride. Bismark’s colleagues from the Ghana Armed Forces gave the events of the day some extra energy.

“I knew my husband’s friends from the military had something up their sleeves but I’m still overwhelmed at the kind of stunts they had to pull to make our day extra fun,” she said.

“They say a woman’s wedding day ends up as the most memorable event in her life and I sure will treasure every moment of today. Thank you Citi FM and your partners. Thanks to all those who have made our day. God blessed you all.”
