Bus and bikers make for a wedding to remember
publié le 13/08/2014 à 07:54 |
The happiest day of Paula Hayes' life started when she left her Bilston home stationed on the lower deck of a restored London bus and led by an escort of around 40 revving motorbikes.
The striking convoy delivered the blushing bride - plus her five bridesmaids and two flower girls - to St Mary the Virgin Church, Gorge Road, Hurst Hill, Sedgley, where she married the love of her life Mark Coleman.
Forty-year-old Paula, who describes herself as 'a little bit out of the ordinary', said she came up with the idea last year when she saw the 1966 Routemaster bus driving around the streets of Bilston.
"We had just started planning the wedding and when I saw the bus in Wellington Road I knew it was how I wanted to arrive at church," said the mother-of-six.

"Both of us are a bit wacky. We like to do things differently I suppose."
This love of the unusual was also evident in her choice of bridal wear, with a traditional-style ivory-coloured gown offset with a pair of lime green platform shoes.
Keen motorcyclists Paula and Mark, who is 33, met on a charity bike trek in March 2012, in what she describes as 'a proper case of love at first sight'.
To add to the wedding day fun they asked a couple of biker pals if they would mind escorting the bus to the church, but things quickly spiralled out of control.
Paula added: "I thought it would be nice to have a few of our friends ride down with us, but it just went mad. Friends kept inviting other friends on Facebook and we ended up with a full scale convoy.
"It's probably not the sort of thing people expect to see when they are out and about on a Saturday afternoon."
The fleet spanned more than 100 metres as it made its way from the couple's home in Stretton Place, Woodcross on the half-mile journey to the church.
After the wedding, which was attended by more than 200 people, the party made its way to The Old Bush in Wombourne before moving on to a full reception at Bilston Town Hall.
