Among the many new resources in Far Cry New Dawn is Ethanol; a resource with a singular purpose. Ethanol is the sole resource which you need to upgrade the eight facilities in Prosperity, and as such, it’s the key to progressing to the higher tiers of the game. However, you won’t find any Far Cry New Dawn Ethanol tucked away in the wilderness or in enemy camps. Instead, you can only acquire Ethanol through one of three ways.

The fastest way to obtain ethanol in Far Cry New Dawn is to capture enemy Outposts. There are 10 Outposts in total, and liberating them will grant you anything from 100 to 450 ethanol. You can quickly spot enemy Outposts in the world by the black smoke pouring from them. When you capture the Outpost, you'll be rewarded with ethanol, plus a bonus ethanol reward if you manage to do the whole thing in stealth. Once you've liberated the Outpost, you can Scavenge it at the newly acquired workbench for a small bonus of 50-150 ethanol. Doing so will turn control of the Outpost back over to the enemy and will raise its difficulty up to a max level of three. The higher the difficulty, the more reward you'll receive for liberating an Outpost, although with the opportunity for bigger rewards comes a tougher challenge, with higher-ranked guards and more alarms for you to be aware of. 

During your travels, you’ll certainly spot a few of these big vehicles being driven across Hope County by Highwaymen. All you need to do is stop the truck and kill the driver then jump in it yourself. Drive the truck safely back to one of your Outposts or the home base of Prosperity to net a good swig of Ethanol. If the truck gets damaged then use a Repair Torch to fix it, and consider hiring Nana to help you capture it next time. As one of the best shots you can hire, she’ll take out the driver for you without damaging the truck itself.

Otherwise, Supply Drops provide you with quick, light doses of Ethanol when discovered across the map but - for the most part - commandeering Ethanol trucks and taking them back to Prosperity or a liberated Outpost for 75 Ethanol just isn’t worth the time, especially as there’s a likelihood it’ll be blown up by Highwaymen along the way. You’ll be able to spend Ethanol to upgrade any of the different Facilities of your Homebase at Prosperity, but it’s worth investing the points into specific sectors to accelerate your Ethanol yields. 

Supply Drops are randomly dropped from Airplanes. They have a red marker in the game world and yellow smoke coming from them. The supply drops are guarded by a small group of enemies. They are random, but you can simply travel to an animal hunting spot and stand around for 1-2 minutes and a Supply Drop will appear. Far Cry Credits can be used to purchase a multitude of different resources in Far Cry New Dawn. Unfortunately, this does not include Ethanol, so you’ll need to earn it the old fashioned way.
