  • Jammers Mexico
    publié le 09/12/2024 à 03:57

Cargo theft poses a significant challenge for logistics firms in Mexico. Criminals employ a range of strategies to pilfer cargo, such as hijacking, robbery, and burglary. Recently, a particularly advanced and complex technique has surfaced: the utilization of signal jammers. These devices interfere with GPS and cellular signals, complicating the efforts of law enforcement to monitor and recover stolen cargo.

While the issue of frequency jamming devices is becoming increasingly prevalent, there are various strategies that can mitigate their impact on your organization. This document provides an overview of the functioning of wifi jammer, the reasons behind their popularity, and the measures you can implement to safeguard your supply chain from potential disruptions.

    How signal jammers function

Signal jammers are electronic devices designed to emit radio signals that disrupt communication systems, including GPS signals, cellular networks, Wi-Fi networks, and radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. These devices are often employed by criminals to obstruct the signals of tracking devices fitted in cargo trucks, thereby complicating efforts by authorities to ascertain the true location of a shipment.

Various types of cargo are susceptible to theft through the use of cell phone jammer, encompassing both high-value shipments and smaller consignments. Items such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, and automotive components are particularly attractive to thieves, as they can be easily repackaged and sold illegally. This situation poses significant challenges for supply chains and also impacts consumers, as the theft of goods can lead to fluctuations in pricing and the availability of essential products.

In recent years, the prevalence of jammers in cargo theft has emerged as a significant issue in Mexico. Notably, between January and June 2024, 64% of theft incidents in the country were associated with the use of signal jamming devices. Despite their illegal status, the adoption of these tools is increasing among organized crime factions. Consequently, the Mexican government is implementing measures to enhance the criminalization and penalties related to their usage.

The Mexican government’s fight against signal jammers

In response to the challenge posed by signal blockers, the Mexican government has implemented regulations governing the use of such devices. The Anti-Jammer Law, which was enacted on January 25, 2020, was advocated by the National Association of Vehicle Tracking and Protection Companies (ANERPV). This legislation empowers authorities to impose prison sentences ranging from 12 to 15 years on those who manufacture, sell, or utilize jammers, or who facilitate their use.

The Anti-Jammer Law represents a crucial advancement in enhancing cargo security within Mexico. Nevertheless, it is insufficient to depend exclusively on legal frameworks to address this issue. Logistics firms must also implement proactive strategies to safeguard their cargo, which may include utilizing various tracking devices, investing in physical security measures, and continuously overseeing their shipments for any potential disturbances.

Security management presents significant challenges, and unprepared supply chains can be vulnerable to exploitation by criminals. However, partnering with Overhaul equips you with essential tools to counteract signal jammers, enhance your defenses against cargo theft, and address various other security concerns.
