Anchorage alone has many hundreds parks, and now, there's a great way to get to learn them. The Anchorage Park Groundwork has just rolled out a brand new playground guide that requires a checklist of park characteristics.
The booklet notes Dave Went up by Park Playground includes tools that's appropriate for children ages 2–5, while Balto Seppala Park's playground was created for older kids.
"It's almost as a brochure, " explained Beth Nordlund, account manager director of Anchorage Recreation area Foundation.
It also indicates which type of turf each playground includes and gives it a strong "inclusive play" score — together with "Level 1" being the best.
"That means everyone might play on that play ground, including kids with disabilities, " said Nordlund, adding this too includes grandparents, parents and caregivers that may have mobility issues.
Nordlund notes that some of the newer, rubber playground turf was made to make rolling a wheelchair all around equipment easier than more than wood chips.
"What we've also found usually parents and grandparents come all the way up into the playground in addition to play, " Nordlund mentioned.
The printed version on the guide also includes more knowledge about special features such because seating areas, sledding mountains and skating at parks about town. It even notes which South Anchorage Sports Park Playground is known for a fenced dog park on the market.
Anchorage Park Foundation has also announced new playgrounds arriving soon, one of that is certainly an indoor playground along at the Fairview Recreation Center. Nordlund says the indoor park need to be open to the open around Thanksgiving.
