Jesse Metcalfe knew he wouldn't be returning to Dallas after his character, Christopher Ewing, was killed when his car exploded in the fiery conclusion to season three.
Now it seems he's not the only one - TNT revealed on Friday that it is cancelling the reboot of the oil family saga that wrapped leaving a myriad of loose ends on September 15.
'TNT has decided not to renew Dallas,' a spokesman said in a statement. 'We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga.

'We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin.'
The spokesperson added: 'We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.'
The sequel to CBS’s hit 1980s primetime soap, Dallas centered on the next generation of the Ewing clan, with original cast members Larry Hagman as J.R. and Patrick Duffy as younger brother Bobby reprising their roles.
The younger members of the family included Jesse as Bobby's son Christoper and Josh Henderson as the scheming John Ross, J.R.'s son.
It kicked off in June 2012 with nearly seven million viewers but the show lost ground when Larry died, aged 81, in November 2012 while filming season two.
Viewership had dropped to two million by the end of the explosive two-hour season three finale, according to Deadline Hollywood.
The stars seem to have been caught out by the news with only Josh posting a comment on Twitter and Instagram, saying: 'When it rains it pours. But GOD is good. I have a message coming to you all very soon.
'But for now I'm gettin my mind off my recent loss and at the #Dodger game. Love you all. I really do. Thank you all for your amazing love and support. #youguysaremyrock #loveyall #letsgoblue.'
The sign-off was accompanied by a shot of two Dodgers baseball caps.
And executive producer Cynthia Cidre told TVLine on September 24 that she had already written most of the story arcs for season four.
It remains TNT allow her to reveal some of the details and allow Dallas fans closure.
