  • What Are Double Edge Razors?
    publié le 30/09/2021 à 08:08

In a traditional straight-cut razor, the head is held in left-angles to the conventional handle. This design has always been popular among all top quality brands of double edge razor as their invention. But, modern slant bar razors offer a completely different take on this tried and true traditional setup which has earned them an avid fan base amongst countless males everywhere. So, what exactly makes a slant bar razor so much different than its counterpart?

With the traditional double edge razors, the shaving head generally shaves in a straight line which is achieved by running the blades across the skin from the outside in. This results in a perfectly even shave with very limited maneuverability. This is because all hairs are cut perpendicular to the direction of hair growth. For many, this provides near-perfect results but it also means using multiple blades which can get very time-consuming. Plus, with the extra blades, it requires lubrication and cleaning which is not always easy to carry out.

Some men have expressed concerns over the safety of low priced double edge razor shaving techniques however they have been repeatedly reassured. The most common complaint is that the cut is often too close and therefore cuts the skin at an angle. This is remedied by using a mohawk or a lip balm to soften the line of the cut. However, for the man looking for a more comfortable shave, it is possible to use a muhle or a cartridge razor to achieve this effect. Muhles come in various shapes and sizes and are especially popular amongst men with sensitive facial skin. A muhle can be inserted into the gap between the cut so that the closer cut is made at a comfortable angle.

It is no longer news that double edge razors can cause ingrown hairs and are therefore not recommended for men who suffer from this condition. This is because they can do a lot of damage to delicate facial skin. An ingrown hair is formed when the hair shaft is cut at the edges and grows into the skin. This causes swelling and pain and the offending product is usually difficult to remove. Ingrown hairs are much more likely to occur if the skin is subjected to constant pressure or rubbing for a long period of time.

As well as different types of double edge razors being used for different purposes, different types of blade guards are also available. These guard covers can help prevent irritation and reduce the chances of cuts. Different types of blade guards include flat, slanted, and convex. Each guard has its own advantages and disadvantages and the preference of the individual user will come into play when choosing the right one for their needs. Some of the best options include the following:

Double edge shaving razors have been around for a long time and many people swear by them. Whether it is a new razor you are interested in or the one you have used for years, make sure you take the time to check out all the options above. If you are unsure which one to buy ask for a demonstration and try out the various models. You may find the new razor you have been looking forward to is in the price range you were initially hoping for.
