You might have seen the advertisements on TV and in magazines, which talk about the use of aluminium channel walls to build a strong framework for a swimming pool. You might have seen the pictures and thought "hey, that looks like what I'm working on". Then off course you get to build your own backyard swimming pool and realise "well that's exactly what I'm going to need"! Well what do you do? If you have an aluminium extrusion as a main frame, then you have an answer to that question.

The other types of construction materials used are steel or concrete walls. If you're looking at doing something a little more ambitious than you could think of building a deck or patio around the wall units. By choosing the right aluminium extrusion you'll be able to create a wall panel that can support a load bearing wall and have it stay in place thanks to the strength of the material used.

So what types of things do you find on a regular basis, which could be used in constructing a wall panel? Well for starters you will find an aluminium extrusion in various sizes. In fact you'll find some wall panels which are only a couple of inches thick, but there are others which are probably twice that size. The smaller ones are usually suitable for interior use, whereas the larger ones are better if you're thinking about constructing an exterior wall to protect the surroundings from the elements.

The advantage of using a bigger sized aluminium extrusion rather than a smaller one is that you can usually buy it pre-cut and this means that the supplier will have built it to your exact specifications. As well as this you will find that the larger aluminium tubes used in wall panels generally have a much stronger cross section. This means that they will provide a much more robust framework than the smaller tubes and this should mean that the whole wall panels will have far less movement and therefore last far longer than the same sized tube made from sheet metal.

Another thing you will find is that some wall panels are quite thin. If you were to look at a picture of one of these wall panels you will find that they are usually very close to the ground. However, another thing to note is that the deeper the aluminium tube the thicker it will be. Usually the thicker tube will be used for things such as the roof section. You will also find that these wall panels tend to be lighter than other types of panel and this again is because the materials that the aluminum manufacturer has used have been of a higher quality, meaning that it is stronger and will last longer.
