Stainless Steel Apron Front Sink Pros and Cons
publié le 15/04/2015 à 07:47 |
If you are undecided whether you want to install a stainless steel apron front sink or an ordinary sink, I highly suggest that you consider some pros and cons. This will help you decide better if you are making the right decision or not. There are definitely a few pros and a few cons to using a stainless steel apron sink compared to using an ordinary sink. Weigh these carefully so you don't regret which sink you install in your home.
Size of the Stainless Steel Apron Front Sink
The size of the sink is considered by many people as an advantage - including me! Why? Because an apron sink has more space than other sinks out there. This is definitely an advantage for people who need a sink that has a large capacity. Most sinks that are commercially available are situated under the counter top. This positioning reduces the amount of space available in the sink for you to wash the dishes or for whatever purpose you are using the sink. Because of that problem, many homes with a large number of people living under one roof prefer using the apron sink. It can accommodate more items inside it making it an attractive option.
Easy Maintenance
Another reason why I, along with many others, prefer the apron sink in stainless steel is because it is very easy to maintain. As the name implies, it is stainless. Meaning you are sure that there will be no stains or any residue that could be potentially detrimental to the sink. It will remain looking good as new despite many years of usage. It is also very easy to clean after using. All you need is a mild soap and some water and will look like brand new again. Furthermore, even if you place hot pots and pans to the sink after cooking, there will be no damage to the sink unlike using a solid surface sink.
Steel Gauge
However, if you decide to go for this sink I highly advise that you consider the steel gauge. Stainless steel apron sinks are not made equally. Some stainless steel sinks are made with thicker steel material while others are made of thinner steel material. Both have their own pros and cons. A thicker steel gauge will have a lower gauge number and is definitely more durable. However, this steel material is prone to dulling over time due to scratches and dings it accumulated over the years. Thinner steel gauge have a higher number and is less expensive. But it is prone to scratches, dings, and dulling in just a few uses. Rusting is also a problem with thinner steel gauge.
Choose Stainless Steel Apron Front Sink
Apron sinks have its advantages and disadvantages. In the end, it will all boil down to personal preference. Aesthetics wise, the sink has an unusual look that some people love and some people hate. It is up to you to decide whether it suits the theme of your home or not. Nonetheless, it is still crucial to weigh the pros and cons of stainless steel apron front sink to decide better.
