On Saturday, Sept. 6 Katie Leigh Spaniol, of Morton, and Troy Jordan Bertsche, of rural Flanagan, exchanged vows before our Lord, family and friends at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish in Streator. Father Dustin Schultz officiated the 1 p.m. nuptial Mass with Monsignor Philip Halfacre and Zak Leskanich assisting. Altar servers were Peyton and Parker Phillis.

Before the double ring ceremony, Katie was given in marriage by her father. The couple’s maid of honor was Sara Spaniol, of Morton, and two best men were Brandon Bertsche, of South Dakota, and David Ruff, of Flanagan, and the party included Elena Depoister, of Bloomington, Eric Smith, of Flanagan, Erin Harcar, of St. Louis University, Jared Bertsche, of Wisconsin, Rachel McKey, of Texas, Josh Decker, of Bloomington, Courtney Detwiler, of Minonk, Andrew Decker, of Wheeling, Jennifer Bertsche Kramer, of Wisconsin, Steve Dote, of Palatine, and Victoria Pflibsen, of Streator.

Their flower girl was Nora Locascio, of Bartlett, and ring bearers were Logan Leskanich, of rural Streator, and Briggston Bertsche, of South Dakota. Ushers were Matt Spaniol, of St. Louis, Ben Spaniol and Luke Spaniol, both of rural Streator, and Trent Bertsche and Tom Engel, both of rural Flanagan, and greeters were Jennifer Leskanich, Palmer Phillis and Abby and Sophie Leskanich. Readers were Dale Bertsche and Carly Kaminke and gift bearers were Sasha Bertsche, Jenilee Novotney and Brent Albertson presented the water, wine and hosts. Kristen Williams was the pianist with Christina Miller as soloist. Dinner and dancing followed at the Pontiac Elks Country Club presented by hosts Dave and Lorena Allen. Steve and Julie Bertsche hosted the rehearsal dinner at The Eastwood.

Katie is the daughter of Diane and Phillip Spaniol, of rural Streator, and the granddaughter of Ed and Marcie Leskanich, of Ancona, and the late Betty and Larry Spaniol. Troy is the son of Steve and Julie Bertsche and the grandson of June Bertsche and the late Paul Bertsche, all of rural Flanagan, and Gene and Pat Francis, of Pontiac.

Katie is a 2008 graduate of Woodland High School and a graduate of OSF St. Francis Medical Center College of Nursing. She is a registered nurse at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Troy is a 2005 graduate of Flanagan High School and a graduate of Illinois State University. He is an elevator manager for Ruff Brothers Grain.
