A BRIDE-TO-BE has spoken of her anguish as her dream wedding day plans have faced major upheaval.

Lucy Blood, from Measham, booked her wedding at Derby Conference Centre two years ago, following her engagement to Peter Downing in November 2012.

Just 10 weeks before the big day, Miss Blood was told that an 850-person conference had been booked the day before her wedding – leaving marquees and portaloos lining the grounds and her guests unable to check in until half an hour before the wedding.

Having paid off the £10,000 wedding in February this year, Miss Blood was devastated by the news.

She said: "I burst into tears. This is supposed to be the best day of our lives. My main concerns are where the photographs will be taken and what my guests will do when they arrive."

After speaking to Derby Conference Centre's managing director, Mike Ebbitt, she was no more reassured.

She said: "He was rude and arrogant saying I was just an emotional bride and called me Louise for the entire conversation."

Mr Ebbitt told the Mail: "We would never guarantee early check-in for guests. It's subject to availability and that was clearly stated. We have bent over backwards to try to offer solutions and I have offered a full refund

to be given if she would like to cancel. "I can see she's upset and we value

her wedding. We don't want to upset brides – it's in our interests to make it as special as possible for her."

In response to the refund offered to her, Miss Blood said: "It's just not feasible now eight weeks before the wedding. And I shouldn't have to be bullied into taking a refund anyway, I've had this booked for two years.

"We don't need this stress."
