How many of you watched the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana more than 30 years ago?

Years ago, their son and his new wife's wedding was televised for the world to see. Many people sat up all night and throughout the day so they would not miss one little segment of the pageantry.

On both occasions, the little I saw was amazing. Dignitaries from around the world arrived to take their place in the sanctuary for the weddings.

The beautiful decorations and the outfits that people wore in celebration were fabulous. The money spent to put on these weddings and to broadcast them was outrageous, but people were not concerned because these were singular events in the couples' lives.

There is going to be another wedding — that of God's son Jesus to the bride he purchased with his death upon the cross.

The bride is everyone who has confessed Jesus as their savior, had their sins washed away by his redeeming blood and has followed him faithfully on Earth.

TV cameras are not going to be able to show the world this wedding because it is going to take place in heaven, the city that God has prepared for the people who have followed Jesus.

When Jesus comes to get his bride, it is going to happen so quickly that TV cameras are not going to be able to capture the event because it will happen in the twinkling of an eye — faster than you can snap your fingers.

But they show this world the aftereffects. People all over this world will be missing with no explanation, their cars abandoned on the streets and highways, their businesses closed and so forth.

Can you imagine the beauty of what heaven is going to be like on this wedding day of God's son Jesus to his bride the redeemed? If we earthly people can spend and beautify buildings to have a wedding, just think what God can do for his son and his bride.

Now the question is will you be part of the bride of Christ?

There is only one way that you can — if you have asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins. Only his redeeming blood can wash you and make you the bride.

We all then must faithfully serve and love God with all our heart, soul and strength.

We must anxiously watch and be prepared for the bridegroom, Jesus, to return and take us to the wedding, for it shall happen quickly and only those who prepare will go. Today prepare yourself for the wedding of a lifetime.
